Pay Per View at George Mason University

Over the past several months, Compassion for Animals hosted multiple Pay Per View events in the George Mason University Student Union. As a result, hundreds of students were exposed to the realities of animal agriculture. Many gasped while watching the footage and were shocked to discover that farm animals are treated with such horrific cruelty. Students who watched at least 4 minutes of the graphic footage were offered $1 in a vegan brochure along with a vegan treat. Often, students were too sickened by the images to eat right away. Many students asked questions and were clearly moved by what they had witnessed. For example, after viewing the video, one student turned down her friend's suggestion to go to Chick-Fil-A by saying, "Right now, chicken doesn't sound so good."

The Vegan Justice League at the University of Colorado, Boulder

The Vegan Justice League conducted their first Pay Per View event at the University of Colorado, Boulder. The group was a little unsure of what to expect, but before they even finished setting up, a student asked if he could watch the video! The Vegan Justice League set up two stations with signs, and staffed the table for four hours. Each viewer was reward with $1 tucked in a vegan brochure and a small sample of vegan "animal" cracker cookies. The video was eye-opening for many students, and several said things like, "I had no idea it was that bad." One student was a little belligerent and said she had no problem with what she saw--but she was clearly agitated. It appears that many seeds of compassion were planted that day.
