Provide funding for specifically approved* food, serving supplies, educational literature and any table/booth fees for serving vegan food (preferably at non-veg events or to an audience that is not familiar with vegan food or philosophy). VegFund does occasionally cover the above items for an event organized by a recipient, but these events MUST serve only vegan food.
Send ONE check to ONE person or group for the approved amount after we receive required documents (see After the Event below). Please allow up to 21 days, after receiving documents, for reimbursement.
What YOU Do: Before the Event:
Find local events being held in your area (such as art fairs, concerts, fund raisers for non-profits, parades, demonstrations, shelter adoption events, films, health fairs, farmers markets, church or synagogue events, festivals, environmental tabling, campus events, peace demonstrations, etc) and research the possibility of serving free vegan food for the event.
Fill out the application form and submit it as far in advance as possible. Please try and give us at least a couple of weeks to process it. Some exceptions maybe made to this policy.
Prepare a vegan menu, keeping in mind: the number of people, supplies needed, etc. (we only cover sampling beverages that are cow milk substitutes).
Find a few volunteers to help you.
If the event requires that food comes from a licensed kitchen, find a licensed kitchen to use or purchase prepared food from a grocery or caterer (healthy plant-based foods please :).
If this is your first time doing an event like this, keep the menu simple. A couple of delicious vegan items to sample will bring people to your table and will not overwhelm you in the preparation and distribution.
Purchase and prepare vegan items (read ingredients carefully on all products!) and obtain rubber gloves for serving.
During the Event:
Place required sign on the food table, so people don't miss this message!
Provide free vegan educational literature at your table/booth.
Take photos of the COMPLETE table display and of people hovering around it!
Maintain a clean table and use rubber gloves to serve food.
After the Event:
Email us a brief review of your event, listing number of attendees, what you served, how it was received and anything else you wish to add.
Email photos of the literature, signage, food samples, action at the table, etc.
. YOU CAN ONLY BE REIMBURSED IF YOU HAVE RECEIPTS and SUBMIT THEM WITHIN 30 DAYS OF THE EVENT! Do NOT submit receipts containing personal items (non-VegFund). VegFund is not responsible for receipts lost in the mail. Please keep photocopies for your records.
NOTE: Please follow these reimbursement instructions: Go to our website and log back in to your on-line account and fill out the reimbursement form which will include a brief review of your event, listing the number of attendees, what you served, how it was received and anything else you wish to add; attach photos of the literature, signage, food samples, action at the table, etc. Submit the completed reimbursement form. YOU CAN ONLY BE REIMBURSED IF YOU HAVE ATTACHED RECEIPTS AND PHOTOS and UPLOADED THEM TO THE REIMBURSEMENT FORM AND SUBMIT THE FORM WITHIN 30 DAYS OF THE EVENT! Do NOT submit receipts containing personal items (non- VegFund).
Keep your eye out for other appropriate events in your area.
Please link VegFund to your website or social networking site.
HOW IT ALL WORKS
Everything you need to secure funding can be found on our "Resources" page!
PLEASE NOTE:
First time applicants should do some small event to show you understand the process and so that we may get to know you better.
We Do NOT actually provide the food, literature and serving supplies. You must purchase these after approval. Please keep this in mind when applying!
Alcoholic beverages must NOT be served or consumed at your booth!
*VegFund reserves the right to withhold reimbursement for the following items: non vegan foods, excessive or wasteful items, food or ingredients which contain products not readily available for purchase in your area, gratuities, wages, travel expenses, special equipment, special food for volunteers, bottled water, sodas, shipping, signage, office supplies, printing, ice, items which have little or no value in vegan education or any other items that do not fit in with the VegFund mission. WHEN IN DOUBT - GET APPROVAL!
It's not necessary to promote or thank VegFund at your table! The public doesn't need to know about us. It is enough that you serve delicious vegan food and distribute lots of great literature. All we ask in return is that you pass our contact information along to other great vegan activists. Together we can change the world!
